November & December Performances

Sunday, November 14 at 4 pm - Community Music School presents its annual Faculty Recital at Essex Congregational Church. Numerous faculty members will perform including Lisa Gray and Amy Jones-Gantkin, violin with Matt McCauley, bass playing the 2nd movement of Bach's Concerto in D minor for 2 Violins.

Saturday, November 20 at 8 pm - The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra presents Memories and Echos: Schnittke: Ritual Van de Vate: Gema Jawa (Echoes for Java); Sibelius: Violin Concerto, Soloist: Mikhail Ovrutsky, Violin; Dvorak: Symphony No. 8 at the Garde Arts Center in New London, CT.

Sunday, November 21 at 7:30 pm - Choral concert featuring Vivaldi's Gloria and other works by Torelli, Vivaldi, and Handel at the Cathedral of St. Patrick in Norwich, CT

Sunday, November 28 at 7:30 pm - Handel's Messiah at Noank Baptist Church, Noank, CT.

Saturday, December 11 at 11:30 am and 4:30 pm - The Eastern Connecticut Ballet presents the Nutcracker at the Garde Arts Center in New London, CT.

Sunday, December 12 at 1:30 pm - The Eastern Connecticut Ballet presents the Nutcracker at the Garde Arts Center in New London, CT.

Saturday, December 18 at 7:30 pm - The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Chorus presents their annual concert at the Harkness Chapel at Conn College in New London, CT.

Thursday, October 14 at 7 pm - In association with the non-profit corporation Artists for a Cause, Terry Barber presents his program "A Sacred Journey" as part of his nationwide tour of houses of worship which will feature great songs of faith from the Middle Ages through the contemporary period with local guest artists Carrie, Organ and Lisa Gray, Violin at Episcopal Cathedral of St. John in Providence, RI.

Friday, October 15 at 7 pm - Second performance of "A Sacred Journey" featuring Terry Barber, tenor and local guest artists Carrie, Organ and Lisa Gray, Violin at Harbor Church in Block Island, RI.

Thursday, October 21 at 10 am & 12 pm - The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra presents their annual Children's Concerts for students in grades 3-4 playing "Circus Parade" by Bamert at the Garde Arts Center in New London, CT.

Saturday, October 23 at 8 pm - The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra presents Theofanidis: Rainbow Body; Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 23, in A Major, K. 488 featuring Soloist: Robert Blocker, Piano; and Brahms: Symphony No. 1 at the Garde Arts Center in New London, CT.

Sunday, October 24 at 5 pm - The Salt Marsh Opera presents"Oh Say, Can They Sing!" Tomorrow's Opera Stars Today at The Kate featuring Arias and Ensembles from Madama Butterfly, Tosca, La boheme, Così fan tutte, The Barber of Seville, La traviata, Lucia di Lammermoor, Die Fledermaus, and L’elisir d’amore at The Kate in Old Saybrook, CT.

September Performances

Saturday, September 11 at 7:30 pm - Guitar Under the Stars 2010 presents Spanish guitar with Latin rhythms featuring Daniel Salazar and his Ensemble, accompanied by The Hartford Festival Orchestra at the Riverfront Plaza, Hartford. FREE ADMISSION.

Sunday, September 12 at 2 pm - Harp and Violin Duo featuring Megan Sesma and Lisa Gray playing works of Tournier, Rowley, Reade, Hoppe, Ibert, Faure, and of course the famous Fantaisie by Saint-Saens at Pomperaug Woods Retirement Community in Southbury, CT.

Saturday, September 25 at 8 pm -
The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra presents Suppe: Poet and Peasant Overture; Beethoven: Symphony No. 6 (Pastorale); Abe: Prism Rhapsody featuring soloist: Naoko Takada, Marimba; and Copland: Lincoln Portrait at the Garde Arts Center in New London, CT.

Saturday, March 13 at 8 pm - The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra presents Copland's Appalachian Spring Suite, Schumann's Cello Concerto featuring guest artist Ole Akahoshi, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 at the Garde Arts Theatre in New London.

Thursday, March 25 at 7:30 pm - The Lyme Old Lyme High School Chorus presents Mendelssohn's Elijah at the Lyme Old Lyme High School Auditorium.

Friday, March 26 at 7 pm, Saturday, March 27 at 1 pm and 7 pm, and Sunday, March 28 at 1 pm - Valley Regional High School presents Sound of Music at their auditorium in Deep River.

Saturday, April 10 at 8 pm - The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra presents Dukas' Fanfare to La Peri, Debussy's Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, Poulenc's Gloria featuring the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Chorus and guest soloist Mireille Asselin, Mozart Symphony No. 31, and Ravel's Daphnis et Chloe Suite No. 2 (with chorus) at the Garde Arts Theatre in New London.

Saturday, January 23 at 8 pm - The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra presents Haydn's Symphony No. 104 (London), Ibert's Concertino da Camera featuring guest soloist Stephen Charles Page, Jr. on Alto Saxophone (2009 Instrumental Competition Winner), and Stravinsky's Petrouchka (1947) at the Garde Arts Theatre in New London.
